Hi, I am John Touchton!
In December 2020, I was diagnosed with colon cancer and liver infection.
I am a survivor, but let me back up a bit.
As a young man, my interest has always been in building. I have been successful in construction and home repairs for many years now. In 2020, my father-in-law and I started building a small hunting cabin on wheels to place on our hunting land. When it was built, we proudly posted pictures on Facebook. To our surprise, we realized that there was a great interest in our area for Tiny Houses.
About this time, I was diagnosed with cancer, had surgery, and began chemo. During chemo, I had a lot of time to think. Facing your mortality can have a significate effect on you. It forces you to see life from a whole new perspective.
My family and I were overwhelmed with love from our community. People reached out, offering prayers, food, emails, and cards. This time humbled me with tremendous respect for the compassion of the people in my life.
At times chemo made me want to give up, but my faith and encouragement from my wife pushed me to keep going.
During treatment I began, looking into the Tiny House industry. Not realizing at the time everything that was involved, my interest continued to grow.
I began to educate myself on what it took to get started, including licenses, ANSI codes, and certificates. Before long, our land and plant were purchased, and construction on Tiny Houses began. Our values are family, safety, and excellence. Tiny Houses is indeed a new adventure for all of us. We are off to a good start, cancer-free and blessed.
